For the final project, Asiyah had to create a website. The website was used to promote her P.R writing skills, resume, editing skills, and creative writing pieces. We were instructed to use Dreamweaver, like most assents in this class she never used that before. With the help of this assignment, she became comfortable using the application. The website shows how diverse she is. The website reflects work that she is proud of. In the bio on the contact pages it allows users to get an inside look on who Asiyah is. On the website, there are writing pieces written when she was an intern for the Alzheimer’s Association. There are a media release, email release, fact sheet, donation paper, and email pitch. Since that is a career that Asiyah wants to pursue, they are apart of her website.
Social media plays a huge role in the website. Social media helped build the website. It allows the website have more substance. There are links to all of her professional social media accounts. There is a link to Twitter, Blogger, and Youtube. The blog allows users, employers, and potential clients to see Asiyah's writing skills and opinions on certain topics. The Twitter allows users to see how Asiyah can act professionally on a social network. The Youtube allows users to see the editing and storytelling skills. Social media is a big part of Asiyah's career and social life and Asiyah is glad to have found a way she can share it professionally and personally. Since social media is tied to the website it gives people different ways of communicating with Asiyah.
When given the task to create a website, was a little intimidated. Asiyah wasn’t confident in creating the website, coding, and, creating web-ready photos. With the help of the videos, she was able to do it just fine. It consisted of covering pdf’s to jpg's, saving files, and linking them together. Her first time doing it was difficult. She stopped and started the videos over and over. With practice, it became easy to do. Asiyah would have the videos playing in real-time in the background and follow what was being said. Sometimes she would anticipate the next step Asiyah had to do and do it before it was mentioned in the video. Since we had to have 10 pieces to showcase on the website, things began to become relative and easy.
Overall, designing the website was a rewarding experience. When Asiyah finished my website she felt accomplished because she doubted that she could do it. After creating my website she noticed I had a spelling error in her header and she had to create a new one. Asiyah changed it on her portfolio and not her index. There wasn’t a video that told her how to fix it but she just thought to delete the code of the other header and just enter the new header. Little problems for this website became simple. While getting more familiar with creating a website on Dreamweaver, you get a better understanding of what to do. It was a great experience learning how to create a website, coding, and editing on photoshop. Asiyah appreciate that she has a place to showcase her work.
